My father learned traditional Jiu Jitsu from the japanese, being a member of military intelligence and communication. The discipline/system that he emparted to me was definitely NOT like wrestling. It's original form is more about face to face, hand to hand combat.Negate your opponents attack; control your opponents movement; redirect their energy; manipulate their center of balance; break whatever you have a hold of; take them down; stomp and strike your opponent until he is maimed, crippled, or dead.

Definitely NOT like wrestling.

Side note..., my father was a world war 2 veteran who trained with the SAS while stationed in Great Britain, after the war the Japanese were recruited to train our pilots in Jiu Jitsu and Karate.
